How We Work
We understand that making an appointment at a new clinic can be quite stressful and confusing. Therefore we would like to inform you of our formal procedures before you take your first step in contacting us.
Your first point of contact would be our counter staff and/ or our Clinical and School Coordinator who will assist you in making an appointment with our medical professionals.
** We are aware that some of you may have been referred to see a certain therapist or professional. However, we would like to inform you that Merak Clinic works as a multidisciplinary team and all our clients are overseen by one or more of our medical professionals.
If you are an adult seeking a Psychiatrist, you just show up to your appointment at our clinic.
If you are making an appointment for your child: Before meeting with our medical professional, parent/s are required to come into the clinic for an intake interview with our psychologist to gather background information about your child’s development and presenting problems. If you have any previous documents and/or referral letters, please bring them to the intake interview. Please show up 15 minutes before the appointment time to fill out forms and possible questionnaires.
Appointment with our medical professional.
Initial appointments are typically 1 hour – 1.5 hours. Our medical will use play-based evaluation methods to assess your child and will then discuss and feedback to parents recommending the next steps to take; therapy, medication or monitoring and follow up visits.
Your child may be referred to regular therapy that our medical professional feels would be beneficial to your child’s development. Therapies are often on a regular basis either once or twice a week.
