Play Therapy (or Special Time as it is referred to by the children) is a structured, theoretically based approach to therapy whereby the child’s natural means of expression, play is used as a therapeutic method to assist him/her in coping with emotional stress or trauma. Using play, rather than relying on ‘talk’ allows the child to manipulate the world on a smaller scale, something that cannot be done in the child’s everyday environment.
Play Therapy allows children and adolescents to express their feelings and emotions through a natural, non-directed way. Clients who attend play therapy are those who have various emotional and behavioural problems such as unresolved trauma, adjustment issues, anger, mutism, shyness, bullying issues, anxiety and depression.
Play Therapy at Merak clinic is in English and Thai.
